Project Description:

An Intranet for a nonprofit organization that works in 12 countries across the world dedicated to preventing pediatric HIV infection and eliminating pediatric AIDS. A modern SharePoint Online communication site is used as a hub site and multiple departments’ content are organized with different sites. Some of the notable web parts are described below. The main web parts of the intranet include:
  • Q&A Forum: This is a custom SPFx web part that allows users to post questions/information requests, reply to the posts and accept an answer. Experts and Knowledge Brokers can view and take actions on the posts in their topics and close/re-open posts.
  • Power Links: This is a custom SPFx web part that shows a set of formatted “quick links” tiles on any SharePoint page that supports web parts. This web part offers several enhancements over the OOTB Quick Links web part.
  • Bulk Upload & Tagging: SharePoint’s interface for uploading files is not very user-friendly, and tagging can be laborious. This can create an issue for knowledge management if we expect members of the organization to submit large numbers of files for sharing via the global intranet and tag them appropriately. To fix this problem we have created a custom SPFx web part that is user-friendly bulk upload form with the ability to quickly tag a large number of files with metadata.
  • Power Activity (Offboarding) Reports:  When any employee leaves the organization, it becomes difficult to find the sites that that user was an admin of or the items/documents that are supposed to be transferred to some other users. The utility we created helps admin find such elements via reports and take necessary action on them.
